Firm Client Sues Apartment Manager Over Lease Collection During Covid-Related Relocation

A firm client has brought class action claims under the Florida Deceptive And Unfair Trade Practices Act for claims arising out of a forced relocation at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. The claims are brought against Asset Campus USA, LLC, which manages apartment complexes associated with colleges and universities throughout Florida. The Complaint alleges that Asset Campus USA, LLC unfairly requires Florida students to make their entire 2020 lease payments, even though many were told to stay off campus by their colleges and many could not safely occupy their multi-tenant apartments and maintain safe social distancing.
